Fools Made Wise #54

Proverbs 11:22:

Like a gold ring in a pig’s snout, is a beautiful woman who lacks discretion.

The fifty-fourth comic of Fools Made Wise starts with Leroy sitting at the bar, talking with Javier the bar tender. Leroy is beaten up
pretty badly, and is giving his version of what happened.

He tells Javier that he was surrounded by ten thugs (it was two). He was just minding his own business and they came at him sideways (in reality, he called them a bunch of turkeys, said some
really foolish things to them, and started the fight).

Javier then asks Leroy what he did. Leroy tells him that he showed them who was boss (it was the opposite). He tells him that they got one-two lucky shots in (more like one-two dozen shots), and they don’t mess with Leroy and walk away unscathed (it was literally the opposite).

From out of the scene, a voice tells Leroy he sounds like one pretty buff dude. Val then steps in and Leroy is immediately head over heals with her! He asks her where she has been his whole life. Val tells him that she likes a strong man who fights for what he wants. Leroy tells her that he’s her man, and as she is leaving, she gives him her card and tells him to call her sometime.

Leroy practically begs her not to leave, telling her that he has hundreds of stories of him fighting others, and that he is a real vigilante. Just as Sophia represents the lady wisdom from the book of Proverbs, Val represents the scandalous woman with no shame. And who do you think Leroy is going to fall for? Val: hook, line, and sinker.

This whole comic bears out Proverbs 11:22: “Like a gold ring in a pig’s snout, is a beautiful woman who lacks discretion.” Unfortunately, that is Val through and through. She is outwardly beautiful but inwardly void of any real life or substance. May we learn from Leroy NOT to chase after things of worldly value, but to live our lives by heavenly values. The alternative is the pig sty!
