Our Mission
We are dedicated to proclaiming the gospel to the homeless and needy of the Capital Region, providing for the whole person – body, mind and spirit.
From a Storefront to a Beacon of Hope
In 1949, God called a group of Albany businessmen to serve those society had forgotten. They opened a small storefront on Madison Avenue, providing meals and nightly chapel services to men who had lost everything. The annual budget was $3,800.
Today, Capital City Rescue Mission serves as the Capital Region's most comprehensive pathway from homelessness to independence. We provide 900 meals daily, shelter for up to 300 people each night, addiction recovery programs, transitional housing, free medical care, job training, and daily chapel services where over 40,000 people annually hear the hope of Jesus Christ.
What hasn't changed is our commitment to the whole person—body, mind, and spirit.
OUR VISION
A Capital Region where no one is hungry,
homeless, or without hope.
OUR APPROACH
Since 1949, we've been providing soup, soap,
and salvation to those devastated by
homelessness in the Capital Region.
Christ-Centered
Everything
We hold chapel services every single day—one of the only missions in America that still does. Over 40,000 people hear the Word of God at our Mission each year.
Privately Funded
Independence
We operate entirely without government funding. This independence allows us to keep Christ at the center of all we do without compromise.
Complete Pathway to Independence
We don't just provide emergency relief. We walk with people through recovery, job training, and transitional housing—their entire journey from brokenness to stability.
Graduates Serving Graduates
Many of our staff completed our programs themselves. They bring lived experience and living proof that transformation is possible.
