Fools Made Wise #12

Proverbs 10:12:

Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all wrongs.

The twelfth comic of Fools Made Wise starts with Leroy at the bar talking with his friend, Javier, or as he likes to call him: “the beer guy.”

Leroy is recounting the last conversation he had with his boss: “Boss man! Leroy hates all your rules—and he’s not too fond of you either! He’s done working here!” (This shows us the first part of Proverbs 10:12, that hatred stirs up strife).

Javier applauds this, and asks what Leroy is going to do next. Leroy tells him that there are hundreds of jobs out there, but he hasn’t found the right one yet.

Javier has a moment of clarity, and remembers that Leroy’s boss is his Dad. He asks him how he responded to all this, and Leroy tells him, “Like he does every week: he told Leroy he loved him and to come back to work tomorrow. Who can work in that kind of environment?” Oh, Leroy…

Pop’s response to Leroy shows the second part of Proverbs 10:12, that love covers all wrongs. To Leroy, his Dad’s audacity to remind him that he loves him and to come back to work is too much for him. But a loving environment with firm boundaries and expectations is something our hearts crave.

Thank goodness we have a God who loves us, has covered all our wrongs through what Jesus did for us, and who invites us to live into our full potential. May we receive His love today!
