Fools Made Wise #57

Proverbs 11:25:

The liberal soul shall be made fat. He who waters shall be watered also himself.

The fifty-seventh comic of Fools Made Wise starts with Leroy looking at a bunch of boxes in his parent’s living room. He is shocked at how many there are, and asks James where they all came from.

James tells Leroy that someone dropped it off for them to give out. James tells Leroy that he and Dad were just talking about how when you help others, God will bless you as well. James tries to encourage Leroy that the things they received were the exact things they needed. This shows us both parts of Proverbs 11:25: “The liberal soul shall be made fat. He who waters shall be
watered also himself.”

In typical Leroy-fashion, he blows that off by saying it was just a coincidence, and that people were just giving to get a tax write-off. Leroy then tells James the real miracle would be if
people started giving Leroy the things he needed since no one ever seems to give him anything.

James asks Leroy if he ever heard of the principle of sowing and reaping, doing kind things for others. He reminds Leroy this is how God made the universe to work.

Leroy tells James if that really was the case, people should learn how to sow into Leroy and he’d reap the benefits. In Leroy’s warped mind, there is  nothing godlier than that!

Despite Leroy getting it all jumbled, this comic does show us the principle of sowing and reaping. In the last comic, James wanted to help people in need, and in this comic, God provided more than he gave in return. I love that God does this! An old pastor said it very well: “We can’t out-give God!” Amen!
