Fools Made Wise #10

Proverbs 10:10:

One winking with the eye causes sorrow, but a chattering fool will fall.

The tenth comic of Fools Made Wise starts with Leroy in a local grocery store. Leroy frequents this store often as there is clerk there that he has his eye on.

He sees a very muscular guy walking by (who looks like a giant walking string bean), and Leroy tells him to watch as he “works his magic.” The guy ignores the putdown and follows Leroy to the
register.

Leroy sees the cashier, winks at her, and asks her if she has a date for Friday night. She is disgusted by this, and pointing to her husband behind Leroy, tells Leroy to ask him. Leroy doesn’t get what’s going on, so he turns and asks the guy how Leroy is ever
going to find that loser. Oh, Leroy…

At this, the muscle bound guy has finally had enough, starts rolling up his sleeves, and tells him he has an idea how he can find him. Finally understanding what is going on, Leroy realizes he doesn’t need groceries that week, and high-tails it out of there.

Proverbs 10:10 tells us that one winking of the eye causes sorrow, but a chattering fool will fall. Leroy is doing both: he is bringing sorrow upon himself, and his foolish chattering is leading to his fall (literally!)

Let’s learn from Leroy to guard our hearts, eyes, and words. We can do this through Jesus living in us: as we keep our eyes on Him and His best for us, it brings joy, not sorrow. And as we walk in His wisdom, it leads to our standing firm, not falling. But, like always, the choice is ours!
