Idleness vs. Productivity

This morning I spoke in our New Life Men’s Program Bible Class.  I spoke on 2 Thessalonians 3 in which God warns us against idleness.   Too often when people become homeless it is also easy to give up and become idle.  Here at the Mission we have a four phase plan to get homeless and struggling individuals back to being productive citizens…(1)Meet emergency needs, (2)Work readiness, (3)New Life Program, (4)Support/Transition.  Productivity and hard work is the heartbeat of this Mission and the men in our program have certainly taken the necessary inaugural steps to ensure that they are constantly moving forward.  So this morning, I just encouraged them to keep bearing fruit, to work hard and to support each other in their efforts while continuing to bless others.  After all, the heart of God is a giving heart.
