Fools Made Wise #1

Proverbs 10:1
A wise son makes a glad father; but a foolish son brings grief to his mother.

In the first comic of Fools Made Wise, we are introduced to the main characters: Pop, Mom, James, and Leroy.

The comic starts with James coming to his parents with a list in his hands. He is eager to report that he finished all the jobs his parents gave him to do. His parents are very proud of him and are thankful that James is so diligent to help out (Pop had a heart attack and had to call his two sons (both single) back home to help around the farm until he recovers). These first panels connect to the first part of Proverbs 10:1 (A wise son makes a glad father).

James’ parents then ask about how James’ younger brother, Leroy, is coming along with his jobs. James remarks that he doesn’t know; the last he heard, Leroy was going to the bar. His parents are very saddened at Leroy’s foolish choices. Foolishness always has a price… and here we see the price on Leroy’s parents. This panel connects to the second part of Proverbs 10:1 (…but a foolish son brings grief to his mother).

The comic ends with Leroy at the bar, very drunk, trying to pawn off his jobs on his bar-fly friends.

We have a choice how we are going to live this life: we can live it with WISDOM (and make those in our lives glad) — or we can live it with FOOLISHNESS (and bring grief to those in our lives who love us). The wisest thing we can do is trust the Lord Jesus Christ, and shape our lives as a response to His love. The choice is ours!
