PLANNING BOARD UPDATE: Thank you for your prayers. The planning board meeting went as expected. The Mission and its passionate speakers pointed out the obvious positive impact it has had on the South End community for so many years, but there were loud opposing voices that brought up their concerns about safety in the neighborhood. It was frustrating to hear the Mission being accused of South End issues common to any city. The Mission will continue to work through the SEQRA (State Environmental Quality Review Act) as requested by the planning board, including the scoping process which will hopefully positively benefit our cause.
You may continue to send letters/emails to the Albany Planning Board (firstname.lastname@example.org) regarding this project until close of business on February 10. We know that God is faithful and will be with us every step of the way. His will will be done.
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” – Romans 8:28
URGENT PRAYER & ACTION: As many know, the Mission is appearing before the Albany Planning Board tonight (January 24) at 6pm regarding the much needed expansion project we have proposed. In the aftermath of COVID and with other shelters closing, the homeless and needy in our area have grown and we must respond. This addition would like to provide a warm bed and a secure locker for each individual rather than a mat on the floor and a mere trash bag for their belongings. The few activists speaking against us are concerned about our “community impact” – Although our impact reaches far beyond the following numbers, last year in a nutshell went like this:
We are asking all of our faithful donors, volunteers, etc. to write letters of support and email them to email@example.com. Below you can view a sample letter that you are welcome to edit and submit OR you may want to write an impactful letter of your own. LETTERS CAN BE SUBMITTED TO THE PLANNING BOARD UNTIL CLOSE OF BUSINESS ON FEBRUARY 10th. Thank you for your help and your prayers!!
